Traffic safety Published Oct. 29, 2009 72nd Air Base Wing Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Due to recent closures caused by construction to Tinker gates and roadways leading to the installation, traffic has become a major issue. Installation officials are currently developing plans to relieve the congestion at Tinker gates, specifically where there are hazardous backups onto Interstate 40. Details on the base plans will be published in the Tinker Take Off, and online at www.tinker.af.mil. In the meantime, drivers should also expect delays due to the upcoming ORI. During this time there could be traffic delays, not only entering and exiting the base, but also traveling within the base. Everyone is asked to cooperate with law enforcement and inspectors by respecting road closures, parking restrictions and cordons during the inspection.
