Sometimes the season openers just don't finish like you hope.

Saturday's Oct. 25 season opener for the Tinker Lady Hawks basketball team was one of those games.

Forward Ashonda Williams put up 12 points for Tinker, including a pair of three pointers and two of four free throws. And Kathy Smith added 11 points to the board as the Tinker squad fell to a strong Murray State University team 78-48.

Murray State came out firing, amassing 36 points in the first half compared to Tinker's 17. The Dunkers also hit 14 of 22 free throws and 10 three pointers throughout the game, compared to Tinker's four three pointers and 14 of 31 free throws.

But this Lady Hawks team is anything but down, and will return to the court against Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, Nov. 14 and 15 in a two-game series at the Gerrity Fitness Center.
