Fast break could be an understatement for the Reserve White flag football team's offense. Unless you're talking about how they dismantle their opponents on the field.

The score says it all for Tuesday night's game: 54-6.

Reserve White put the shifter in overdrive and didn't let off the throttle till the refs whistled it over, leaving a scrappy 76th Propulsion Maintenance Group team (0-3) stunned.

It didn't take Reserve White (4-0) very long to gain momentum. As an omen of things to come, Reserve quarterback Ralph Hawkins found receiver Jim Gasaway on the opening play who took the pass 80 yards for a touchdown.

It was downhill from there for Reserve.

In the first quarter, Andrew Rosales ran it in to put six on the board for his orange-clad PMXG squad. It was an answer to Reserve's touchdown, but the swapping of blows wouldn't continue. Reserve player Mike Templeman had two touchdowns in the first half, including one on an interception he picked off and ran back 50 yards. It was 33-6 at half time, but more touchdowns were on the way.

Reserve struck again with style in the third quarter as Hawkins connected with Brian VanCuren, who tossed it back to Floyd Conner on a hook and ladder play. Conner juked his way past PMXG defenders for a 35-yard touchdown.

Later in the third, with Gasaway under center for Reserve, he found Jim Sherman in the end zone for a touchdown.

As the final nail in the coffin, Reserve defender VanCuren picked off PMXG quarterback Aaron Mackey in the fourth quarter and reversed the ball 60 yards.

VanCuren's interception set up a 20-yard scoring drive as Gasaway connected with VanCuren in the end zone several plays later to put the score at 54-6.

"I've got the best supporting cast in the league," said Hawkins, the Reserve White team captain of 17 years. It certainly seemed like it Tuesday night.
