Recently, volunteers from the 448th Supply Chain Management Wing Management Operations office Booster Club embarked on a mission to help a local elementary school.

They held a "Back to School Backpack Drive" to help children in need of assistance at Telstar Elementary School. The OM Booster Club contacted the school principal and obtained school supply lists for pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.

The volunteers purchased seven backpacks, one per grade, which was the original goal and other OM volunteers set out to donate school supplies to fill the backpacks.

The response was overwhelming as the donations poured in. Additional OM personnel, individuals and teams, stepped up to the plate, adopting an entire backpack.

The event also drew attention to personnel outside the OM office. Donations were also received by volunteers from other 448th organizations. The drive was so successful that the OM Booster Club members and personnel delivered 27 backpacks to the school on Aug. 12, 20 more than originally planned. The highlight of the event was presenting a backpack filled with supplies to a child in need, said the volunteers.
