507th accepting UPT candidates Published Sept. 3, 2009 507th Air Refueling Wing TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The 507th Air Refueling Wing at Tinker is accepting application packages from those interested in attending Undergraduate Pilot Training. The Air Force Reserve is an Equal Opportunity Employer. You must meet these minimum qualifications to apply: Education: A Bachelor's Degree is required (must be obtained prior to attending training). An official transcript showing most recent semester credit-hours and grade point average must be submitted for review. Applicants may apply within their last semester prior to graduation, but will not be accepted for the official Air Force Reserve Command selection board until their degree is complete. The minimum competitive GPA is 2.60 on a 4.0 scale. Maximum Age: Must be commissioned prior to age 29 and 6 months, and must be able to enter Undergraduate Flight Training before reaching 30 years of age. The Air Force Reserve is not currently entertaining age waivers for pilot candidates. Physical: All candidates must be able to pass an Air Force Flying Class I/IA Flight Physical. Pilot candidates must have uncorrected distant vision of 20/70 or better, corrected to 20/20 or better. Flight Experience: Pilot candidates must have an FAA Private Pilot certificate at minimum. Other Requirements: Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen, mentally and morally sound, and capable of obtaining a secret security clearance. A candidate must also take the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test and meet minimum scores outlined in Air Force Instruction 36-2005 and AFRC Instruction 36-2602. The minimum competitive scores for Pilot are: Pilot-70/50, Verbal - 25, Quantitative - 40, Academic Aptitude - 25. Pilot candidates must also take the Test of Basic Aviation Skills and obtained a Pilot Candidate Selection Method score of 40 or better. The minimum competitive PCSM is a score of 75 or better. To be considered for the fall UPT selection board, applicants must submit packages to Maj. Mike Remualdo, 465th Air Refueling Squadron, 7455 Reserve Road, Bldg 1048, Tinker AFB, OK, 73145-8726. All packages must be received by close of business Sept. 8. Interviews will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 13. Packages must contain the following documents: AFOQT and PCSM scores, college transcript, cover letter and resume and two letters of recommendation. Resumes should include pertinent information, such as total flying time and experience, including ratings received, and date of birth. Incomplete packages will be held up to one year until all information is received, but will not be considered for interview selection until complete. If your package is selected, you must complete additional paperwork, including a DOD physical and the Initial Flight Physical, prior to the Reserve board. The Air Force Reserve will further review applicants and select a number to attend Officer Training School, Initial Flight Screening and UPT. OTS is held at Maxwell AFB, Alabama, and lasts 12 weeks. IFS is held at an authorized local training facility, and consists of 20 or 40 hours of training in light aircraft, simulating military flight training. The initial phases of UPT are held at one of three military training bases (Columbus AFB, Miss., Laughlin AFB, Texas or Vance AFB, Okla.) and lasts approximately one year. Further training in the KC-135 will be held at Altus AFB, Okla., and lasts approximately three months. Additional training, such as Water and Combat survival, will be required prior to full qualification as a pilot. If selected, a military obligation is incurred, beginning on the date graduated. Applicants will be required to sign an affidavit with the Military Personnel Office accepting this obligation. Upon completion of training, pilots are expected to perform military duties (ground or flying) approximately four days a month to maintain currency and minimum training standards, as well as attending monthly Unit Training Assemblies and Annual Tours, as required by the Air Force Reserve. Opportunities may exist to provide additional ground or flying duties in support of current operations. Additional previously qualified military aviator board planned Major Remualdo added the 507th ARW will also have a hiring board during the Oct. 3-4 UTA for previously qualified military aviators. The prerequisites required for previously qualified military aviators include providing copies of all Performance Reports, copies of all check rides/evaluations, two Letters of Recommendation and a current resume.
