72nd ABW announces Wildcatter Award winners Published July 23, 2009 By 72nd Air Base Wing TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Linda Connor Airfield Operations Admin Assistant 72nd OSS/OSA Ms. Conner, is "outstanding" in all aspects. Her administrative support enables 40,000 flying operations per year. She received a no-notice records management inspection and received an outstanding overall rating. She kept track of more than 25 annual physicals for air traffic controllers. She implemented the installation of a new records management system with a smooth transition. Peter Howse Transient Alert Quality Assurance 72nd OSS/OSMT Mr. Howse inspects, tracks and evaluates 114 items of powered and non-powered equipment. He also tracks preventative maintenance inspections and documentation for 20 Sterling Services, contract personnel. He is also responsible for 72nd OSS/Transient Alert and the oversight of Daily Operations/Continuity for all distinguished visitors, aircraft and international guests. He manages the Sterling Services Environmental Operations and ensures all hazardous materials and bio-environmental concerns comply with requirements. Master Sgt. Steven Brown Control tower assistant chief controller 72nd OSS/OSAT Sergeant Brown excelled in a senior master sergeant billet during the tower chief controllers temporary duty assignment. He managed 4,824 flights and 27 personnel. He led the air traffic control tower to win the 2008 AFMC D. Ray Hardin Air Traffic Facility of the Year award. He directed a $57,000 tower recorder replacement project and researched requirements to ensure the facility was 100 percent FAA compliant. He also worked through a controller shortage to meet a 24/7 mission. The facility remained 100 percent covered. Diann Riter Functional Area Specialist 72nd ABW/CEX Ms. Riter saved $500,000 in future spending, her audit of baseline equipment data authorization listing decreased requirements from 283 items to 133. The 22 savings could exceed $2 million. She volunteered to relocate her work station to support administration functions for both emergency management and the fire department. She is also the security monitor for the 72nd ABW Civil Engineer Directorate. Scheduled and tracked dozens of security clearances for more than 183 personnel security records with zero discrepancies during audits. Capt. Nicole Zayas Deputy Flight Commander, Airfield Operations 72nd OSS/OSA As deputy for a military and civilian flight of 46 members responsible for a $250 million, 1,483-acre airfield and 24/7 flying ops supporting 39,000 aircraft operations, Captain Zayas helped lead the flight to four AFMC and two Tinker awards. She oversaw the $57,000 tower recorder replacement project, researching financial requirements and obligated funds, ensuring the facility is 100 percent FAA compliant. Her preparation led the airfield team to a 97 percent compliance rating during 2008 ATSEP.
