Col. Luis Rosa-Berrios assumed command of the 848th Supply Chain Management Group, 448th Supply Chain Management Wing, Air Force Global Logistics Support Center, on July 16 during a traditional appointment to command ceremony. The total responsibility, authority and accountability of that group was transferred to him in front of members now under his command.

Colonel Rosa-Berrios succeeds Col. Phillip R. Frederick, who is continuing his deployment to Iraq.

"Colonel Rosa-Berrios brings with him a wealth of experience to this leadership position. Experience that will make him an invaluable asset to this group our wing the AFGLSC and ultimately the Air Force," said Scott Reynolds, director of the 448th Supply Chain Management Wing.

The AFGLSC was activated in March 2008. In April 2008, several of the AFGLSC units were activated, to include the 448th Supply Chain Management Wing. Approximately 1,000 personnel assigned to the 448th Combat Sustainment Wing were realigned to the 848th Supply Chain Management Group.

"The propulsion, commodity workload has sustained the logistics center for many years. But as identifiable as the workloads are across government and the private sector circles, it is the people here that get the top billing. Colonel Rosa-Berrios is taking over an organization filled with roughly 1,000 great people. He will quickly see that he can move mountains with the great folks he is inheriting," said Mr. Reynolds.

Colonel Rosa-Berrios comes to Tinker from Headquarters Defense Logistics Agency, Fort Belvoir, Va., where he served as joint transportation staff officer. He served as chief, Distribution Operations Division in the Operations and Sustainment Directorate at Defense Logistics Agency headquarters. He oversaw all facets of DLA distribution support in the joint community and the development of detailed agency plans in support of the combatant commands, services, defense and federal agencies.

"There are many challenges on the horizon for this group as we support our AFGLSCs vision as being recognized as the premier supply chain management organization in the Air Force. I look forward to working with you all, with three goals in mind. First, to continue to perform with the same day-to-day excellence that our customers have grown accustomed too. Second to provide you with the right working environment, the right tools and technology, and opportunities for development to enable you to do your job better to support our customers. Third we must make sure in the process we don't forget to have fun and take care of each other as a member of our team," said Colonel Rosa-Berrios.
