Action Line: Motorcycle parking Published July 23, 2009 By 72nd Air Base Wing TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Q:Lately there have been a lot of motorcycles parking at the end of the parking rows in the Bldg. 3001 parking lot. Some say this is OK and some say it is not. If it is OK to park there then I might suggest we need to take another look at that policy. Often times a small car cannot see around the cycles and because of the limited visibility, they pull out in front of pedestrians or other vehicular traffic. These are no-parking areas for that very reason. Why are tickets not being issued for these offenses? If these are currently legal parking spaces for cycles, they should be moved away from the ends of the rows to allow proper vision for both pedestrians and motorists A:Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. The 72nd Air Base Wing Civil Engineer Directorate re-striped the hatched ends of some of the parking rows for motorcycle parking in 2008. Some of the motorcycles ticketed were parked legally in these spaces. The Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center Plans and Program office has added markings to these areas designating them as motorcycle parking. CE will initiate a work order to enlarge the lettering on the pavement so that the areas for motorcycle parking are made clear. This work will be completed as funds become available.
