The Tinker Nordiques have rebounded from two early-season losses to post a modest four game unbeaten streak.

This success continued July 12 at the Blazers Ice Centre with a 5-3 victory over the league-leading Jets.

"Our team is starting to gel as a unit and this could be a very special season for the Nordiques," said team captain James McCarron.

The Nordiques dominated the first period of play. They controlled the puck and spent almost all the first 10 minutes in the Jets defensive zone.

Jason Stefanski scored the first of three consecutive goals for the Nordiques. Right winger Josh Riley sent a wrist shot from the right faceoff circle that hit the Jets goaltender in the chest. Stefanski pounced on the rebound and scored, putting the Nordiques ahead 1-0.

The next two goals came off the sticks of center Jeremy Brennan and defenseman Lewis Lomanaco. The Nordiques took the 3-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Jets rebounded in the second period with three goals of their own to tie the score. The Nordiques then took control. The decisive fourth goal came halfway through the third period. Left winger Tyler Miller grabbed the rebound of a McCarron shot and sent it into the net giving his team a 4-3 lead.

The Nordiques added an insurance goal with 2:49 remaining off the stick of Stefanski.

"This is a huge win for us," McCarron said. "We only had six skaters and this shows our conditioning and teamwork."

The three stars of the game were McCarron, who had a goal and three assists; Stefanski, who had two goals; and goaltender Dan Publicover, who made great saves during the entire game.

The victory propelled the Nordiques into first place in the Oklahoma Adult Hockey League Division II standings with a 3-2-1 record.
