Teams needed for annual boat regatta

TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- The eighth annual Cardboard Boat Regatta will be held Aug. 1 at the Gerrity Pool.

Those who would like to participate in this year's event must submit entry forms by July 30. There is no entry fee and entry forms are available at Outdoor Recreation in the Services Mall, Bldg. 478, and online at www.tinkerservices.com.

This year, there are two categories of competition. The squadron category and, for boaters 17 and younger, the tadpole category. In each category, awards will be given for first through third places.

There are also prizes for best looking boat, the Titanic award and the best dressed captain and mate.

All participants must complete the race in order to be eligible for the prizes. Each team is also responsible for the construction and costs for their boats. For complete event rules, please see entry form.

Check-in will begin at 11 a.m. and races will start at noon. All base personnel are invited to come out and cheer their favority team to victory.
