The summer season of the Oklahoma City Adult Hockey League Division II kicked off May 31 at the Blazers Ice Centre.

Tinker Les Nordiques, formerly known as Tinker Can Am, unveiled brand new jerseys in their defense of the league championship. The end result didn't go the way of the Tinker team, however, as they lost 7-3 to the Sharks.

"We are excited to back on the ice," said James Behn, Tinker Les Nordiques head coach. "We won the title and played in the ultra competitive Can Am Cup, but it feels great to be back together in defense of our title (in this league)."

The Nordiques executed their game plan to perfection early in the contest. Only 45 seconds into the game, Jason Stefanski directed a pass into the net to put the Nordiques up 1-0. New right winger Tyler Miller and center James McCarron got the assists on the goal.

The Sharks rebounded seven minutes later as defenseman Paul Stiller deflected an errant pass into the Nordiques net to tie the score.

The Nordiques regained the lead with two minutes left in the period as center Clark McClay took a pass from defenseman James Behn and rifled a blistering wrist shot from the left face-off circle into the net.

From that point on, the Sharks took over the contest, scoring four consecutive goals over the next six minutes. Stiller had two goals and an assist during that time.

The Nordiques closed the gap early in the third period as Stefanski scored on a breakaway to cut the lead to 5-3.

The Sharks scored two more times to close out the game and make the final score at 7-3.

"We skated hard in the game, but they played better and scored when they needed to," said Behn. "Although we did not get the win, it is early in the season and we can rebound from this," said Jeremy Brennan, Nordiques center.

The Tinker stars of the game were Stefanski, who had two goals; McCarron, who tallied two assists; and Justin Smith who played a stellar game on defense.
