Commander’s Action Line Published May 28, 2009 By 72nd Air Base Wing TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Trash collection Q:I am writing to inquire about the new policy of letting a week's worth of trash pile up in various bathrooms in Bldg. 3001. I know janitorial services have been reduced and it's bad enough that the bathrooms are only being cleaned twice a week, but to use the bathrooms as a holding area for trash is unsanitary. Please revisit this subject and figure out another solution. A:The Air Force has mandated new standard levels for custodial services. One of the new standards is centralized trash collection with scheduled contractor pick up from centralized collection points one-time per week for administrative areas and twice a week for restroom services. However, there is good news. Funds were secured to increase frequency of centralized trash collection in Bldg. 3001 to three times per week for administrative areas and five times per week for servicing 20 high-demand restrooms, which started last month. The remaining low-demand restrooms are serviced twice per week. The 72nd ABW/CE is working with HQ AFMC/A7 to grant Bldg. 3001 a permanent increase in the frequency for centralized trash and restroom service.
