Base clinic reducing, closing some services Published May 13, 2009 By 72nd Medical Group TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla., -- The 72nd Medical Group will be closing orthopedic services on Sept. 30. Orthopedic care will be made available through community providers. Patients currently enrolled through the clinic's orthopedics program can inquire about their referrals by calling the clinic at 736-2812. The 72nd Medical Group primary care providers will facilitate appropriate and timely referrals for new patients who require orthopedic services. Patients who have had joint replacements require annual x-ray follow-up and prophylactic antibiotics for any invasive dental procedures, including routine cleanings. Patients should schedule appropriate follow-up with their primary care providers to ensure these requirements are accomplished. Diagnostic imaging services at the 72nd MDG will also be reduced. Starting May 21, ultrasound and mammography will no longer be available on base. These services will be available through community providers. If your health care provider has ordered an ultrasound or mammogram for you at the 72nd MDG and you have not yet scheduled the exam, you are encouraged to schedule the exam as soon as possible. Routine X-rays will continue to be available with a prescription and do not require an appointment. For any questions regarding diagnostic imaging services at the 72nd MDG, call 736-2207.
