Tinker schedules sports for wellness day

2009 Wellness Day Indoor Sports 

· A boxing clinic will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. May 8 in the main gym of the Gerrity Fitness and Sports Center.

Tinker Boxing Club coach Gualberto Suarez and Army Boxing coach Lavell Sims will be on hand.

Boxing challenges the entire body and mind. This is a great opportunity for beginners (men and women) to network and learn for free.

· A three-on-three basketball tournament will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. May 8 in Gerrity's multi-purpose room.

Register three to five person teams (coed/mixed units) by calling 734-3155 or e-mailing aria.jones@ tinker.af.mil no later than close of business today. Each team captain will receive the rules of play via e-mail on Monday. The tournament is limited to 20 teams. For more information, call 1st Lt. Aria Jones at 734-3155.

Outdoor Sports

Challenge your mind as well as your body in Tinker's Amazing Race. The Amazing Race will allow teams of six to eight people to maneuver through an intricate obstacle course full of excitement.

Other outdoor activities available are Softball, Volleyball, Kickball, and Tug-Of-War All outdoor events will be from 2 to 4 p.m.

72nd ABW Sports Day Schedule

Col. Allen Jamerson, 72nd Air Base Wing commander, has designated May 8 as the 72nd ABW's Sports Day. Sports Day, along with Wellness Day, is considered an alternate duty location.

8 to 11 a.m.
· 3-on-3 Basketball, Gerrity Gym (back court), one team per squadron or organization
· Kickball, ALS Field/Youth Center Field, one nine-person team per squadron or organization
· Ultimate Football, one five- to seven-person team per squadron or organization
· Softball, Softball Fields, sign up as an individual and be place on a team or as a nine-person
team
· 440 Relay Race, Base Track, four-person team


10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
· Horseshoes, Golf Course Pavilion, two two-person team per squadron or organization

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
· Volleyball, Golf Course Pavilion, one five-person team per squadron or organization
· Tug-of-War, Golf Course Pavilion. Teams can have a maximum of 8 people. Two divisions --
regular and coed. Coed teams must be split 50-50.

12:30 to 4 p.m.
· Bowling nine-pin no-tap, Tinker Bowling Center. Cost is $5 per person at the door. Twenty-
two teams made up of four or five people.

1 to 3 p.m.
· Dodgeball, Gerrity Gym (back court), five-person teams
· Bench Press Competition, Gerrity Gym
