The Tinker Canadian American hockey squad was looking to capitalize on its recent success in the Oklahoma City Adult Hockey League Division II when it faced off against its division rival on April 26 at the Blazers Ice Centre. The result was a surprising 6-3 loss to the Fighting Beavers.

The Hawks got on the scoreboard with a power play goal early in the first period. James McCarron won the face off and drew the puck back to Justin Smith, who sent a quick slap shot toward the net. Jason Stefanski pounced on the rebound and tipped it past the Beavers goaltender for the 1-0 lead.

Two minutes later, McCarron scored on an assisted goal at 8:57 to give the Can Am side a 2-0 lead.

The next 30 minutes of hockey was the downfall for the Can Am side as they surrendered five consecutive goals to the Beavers. Taylor Willis was the thorn in the Can Am side as he scored three of the five Beaver goals. The Can Am team trimmed the lead to 5-3 at the 2:24 of the third period on a tip in by James Behn off a shot from Stefanski. That was as close as the Can Am team would get.

"They took advantage of their chances and we could not put the puck into the net," said Jeremy Brennan, Can Am left winger.

The three stars of the game for Tinker were Stefanski, who tallied two goals; McCarron, who had a goal and assist and Behn, who had one assist.

This was the last regular season game of the year. The Tinker Can Am will be seeded No. 3 in the playoff tournament, which started Wednesday and runs through Sunday at the Blazers Ice Centre.

"We need to refocus and get our swagger back," said Behn. "We have the talent to win the title. It will be a little tougher as the No. 3 seed."
