Team AEF continued its supremacy in the intramural soccer league with a convincing 3-0 victory over the 72nd Medical Group April 14 at the Airman Leadership School.

The scoring started midway through the first half as Team AEF forward Eric Reynosa sent a pass to striker Jon Hand, who drilled the ball into the net at 19:22 making the score 1-0.

The remainder of the first half was a defensive struggle as both sides thwarted the other teams' offensive advances.

Team AEF picked up the scoring in the second half. Halfback Dustin Van Cleef made the score 2-0 when he sent a blistering 35-foot free kick into the back of the 72nd Med Group's goal.

The third and final goal of the contest came as Van Cleef lifted a pass over the heads of the Med Group's midfielders and Hand raced to get it. He rifled a shot to the right corner of net at 36:15.

"Our team played well together in spurts tonight. We still have not put together a full game," said Miguel Lopez, Team AEF forward.

The win helps Team AEF keep a firm grasp on first place with a 7-0-0 record, while the loss drops the 72nd Med Group to fourth-place with a 3-2 record.

"Med Group will be a hard out during the upcoming playoffs," said Jeremy Brennan, a fullback with Team AEF.
