Tinker Club caters to base needs Published April 10, 2009 By 72nd Force Support Squadron Marketing TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla., -- The Tinker Club has been the setting for thousands of special events, serving military and civilian personnel since the 1940s including Maj. Gen. Clarence Tinker and Buddy Holly. The staff at the Tinker Club has facilitated wedding receptions, birthday parties, graduations, promotions, retirements, formal galas and high profile dignitary events since World War II. Tinker's collocated club is a multi-faceted hub of entertainment, dining and business. The club consists of more than 36,000 square feet of opportunity for most any event to occur. There are seminar and meeting spaces available for 10 to more than 300 attendees. The club offers lecterns, microphones, easels, WI-FI connection, screens, projectors and a variety of snacks to accommodate even the largest meeting. "Our whole staff is experienced and talented professionals. I couldn't have a more loyal, flexible and hard working staff to work along my side every day," said Amanda McGovern, catering manager. "We enjoy the fact that each event is special and strive to achieve memorable perfection. Customer service is our business and excellence is our success." Tinker Club not only has the best staff, but also an elegant facility to accommodate some 15 to 400 diners. The newly remodeled club has several ways to make each dining event portray the memorable occasion. Dance floors, projectors and screens, fine linen and much more are available for use for events at the Tinker Club. Although times have changed, the club still maintains its loyalty to Members First by providing discounts in services, dining and entertainment. Nonmembers, including the civilian and contractor work force, may also use club facilities. The Tinker Club is also a hot spot for after work entertainment and camaraderie. Friday night karaoke, Wednesday night bingo and monthly programs are popular events that customers enjoy. Friday night karaoke has been "all the rage" and the club has been staying open until 1 a.m. every week. Tinker Idol Season 2 is in full swing and the tryouts will take place beginning at 5 p.m. April 17. Semi-finals happen at 7 p.m. April 24.
