Society offers child care to parents preparing for a change of station Published April 3, 2009 By Air Force Aid Society TINKER PUBLIC AFFAIRS -- Are you feeling stressed due to an upcoming permanent change of station? Do you have children? Would free child care help? If you answered yes to these questions, the Air Force Aid Society has the help you need. The Child Care for PCS program is intended to help relieve some of the stress felt by families in the process of a PCS move. The Air Force Aid Society will pay up to 20 hours of child care (per child) in licensed Family Child Care homes on base or in Air Force-affiliated homes off base. Families may receive a certificate both at the base the family is leaving and the base where the family is arriving, if both bases offer the program. Certificates are valid only at the base at which they are issued and unused hours do not transfer from one base to another. Families with PCS orders are eligible to receive a Child Care for PCS Certificate from the base Airman and Family Readiness Center Relocation staff for use within 60 days of the family's departure from or arrival to the base. A list of FCC providers is available from the A&FRC. This program is open to all ranks of the Air Force. For more information, call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 739-2747 or Julia Gant at 739-7260. Service members must bring a copy of their orders when requesting a certificate.
