Fans, players and interested onlookers were treated to good hockey and a lot of fun at the Blazers Ice Centre on March 28.

The fourth annual benefit hockey game featured the No. 7 nationally-ranked Oklahoma Sooners and the Canadian Forces of Tinker's 552nd Air Control Wing. The backdrop of the contest was to raise awareness for cancer research in central Oklahoma. The result was an exciting 8-7 shootout win for the Sooners.

"This is a great event and we are trying to raise awareness and contributions for cancer research in the metro," said Jerry Larkin, CAF defenseman.

The fans in attendance were treated to some fast-paced hockey and shenanigans with a hint of humor and fun.

The OU team adorned itself in pink sweaters and pink leggings in honor of the event. The CAF, three time winner in the four year event, was wearing their typical red and white colors.

"This is a lot of fun. Those kids are great kids and can they skate," said Jim Bell, CAF defenseman.

"This event is a blast for all of us," said Don Young Blazers Ice Center operations manager. "To watch OU play CAF is itself is fun, however raising cancer awareness far exceeds that."

The goal scorers in the game for CAF were Mark Keown, Larkin, Will Natynczyk, Eric Savoie and James McCarron, each with one.

The scorers for the Sooners were Ryan Kenney, Keith Denton, Dan Siira, Mark Tylka, Justin King, Owen Brewer and Chris Niolaou.

"The CAF do a great job of putting this event together. It allows the young players to mingle with the older guys and play hockey for a great cause," said Larry Donovan, OU Sooners Hockey Club general manager.

"This was a fantastic display of hockey, entertainment and charitable giving," said OU fan Donnie Wilson.
