Seeing how things work at the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center is the goal of the upcoming Senior Leaders Logistics Center Operations Course.

Hosted by the 327th Aircraft Sustainment Wing, the biannual course is designed to give new civilian and Air Force leaders from units across the Air Force that support the OC-ALC a better understanding of the various services provided by the logistics center.

"The course was designed as a customer orientation course for senior officers and civilian leaders in key leadership positions," said Glenna Chambers, protocol officer for the 327th ASW.

Those attending the course are given briefings on OC-ALC activities in addition to taking tours of the facility itself. Employing more than 16,000 people, the OC-ALC is one of the largest in the country, providing support to the Air Force's refueling tankers and strategic bomber force.

The next SLLCOC is scheduled to run from April 7 to 9. Although each course is limited to between 22 and 25 people, an estimated 900 people have passed through the course since its establishment 18 years ago.

"This course is still recognized as a very beneficial course for attendees who come away with a better understanding of the workings of not only a depot but a logistics center," Ms. Chamber said.

Ms. Chambers said the SLLCOC is also a good example of a "Team Tinker effort" as several units, including the 76th Maintenance Wing and the 448th Supply Chain Management Wing, participate in providing course material and support.

The course is open to senior civilians in key leadership positions and senior officers ranked lieutenant colonel and above. It is a requirement for officers in the Career Broadening Program to attend the course.
