Force support squadron provides employees TOP career opportunities Published March 19, 2009 By 72nd Force Support Squadron TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla., -- The 72nd Force Support Squadron has announced that current Tinker employees have another opportunity to self-nominate for the Tinker Opportunity for Professional Services announcement, which opens March 20 and closes April 2. The program allows current employees to transition into specific general schedule series based on their education, experience and performance. Management has now identified GS-301 series for implementation which includes Data Systems Specialist (GS-301), Process Analyst (GS-301) and Software Management Specialist (GS-301), in addition to Management and Program Analyst (GS-343), Equipment Specialist (GS-1670), and Quality Assurance Specialist (GS-1910), which now makes a total of four series that Management has identified for implementation. A formalized training plan has been developed for each series with an entry level of GS-5 and a target grade of GS-11. The goal of TOPS is to competitively move employees into positions that maximize their education and experience. A 90-day standing register is used to refer candidates for consideration. Employees who wish to participate in the TOPS program must self-nominate for each series they are interested in each time the announcement is open. Self-nomination is accomplished through the Air Force Personnel Center Website at https://ww2.afpc.randolph.af.mil/resweb/log_in.asp or through the Interactive Voice Response System at 1-800-616-3775. Employees are encouraged to review their career brief and their Official Personnel File to ensure their education level is correct and the OPF contains a copy of their official transcript.
