Aerobic classes improve fitness Published Feb. 26, 2009 By John E. Banks Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla., -- Fitness plans at the Gerrity Fitness and Sports Center are heading in an aerobic direction. There are a wide variety of aerobic fitness classes that incorporate low- and high-impact aerobics, weight resistance, kick boxing regiments and yoga. "These classes are offered to improve the overall physical fitness and to provide a variety to keep the individuals engaged," said Tiffany Farmer, Gerrity Fitness and Sports Center fitness leader. Currently, Gerrity Fitness and Sports Center offer classes during lunch time and appeal to every type of athlete from novice to advanced. Farmer is certified by Aerobic Fitness Association of America in all four classes that she leads at the fitness center. "I thoroughly enjoy teaching these classes because of the enthusiasm and energy that I receive and individuals display during these classes," said Farmer. These classes offer an outlet for stress relief, exercise and a mental break during the day. Each participant gets a full hour of comprehensive exercise that will leave even the top-notch physical specimen with a great workout. "The biggest thrill I get is seeing the enjoyment on the faces of the participants and seeing the changes in the individual physical fitness. That goes from trimming down to and improved physical fitness," said Farmer.
