Crime doesn’t pay Published Feb. 11, 2009 By Office of the Staff Judge Advocate TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla., -- The following are actual accounts of crimes recently committed by members of Team Tinker. The Tinker Take Off will regularly publish "Crime Doesn't Pay" to inform readers of criminal acts to be alert for and to deter and prevent further criminal behavior from taking place on base. A sleepy sentinel An Airman was supposed to be performing his duties while at work, but instead, a co-worker found the Airman sleeping on post. A few hours later, another co-worker found the same Airman asleep again with all of his gear off. The Airman received a reduction to the grade of airman basic. Don't drink and drive A staff sergeant was driving on base near the intersection of Twining and Rawlings Avenue when Security Forces initiated a traffic stop. A field sobriety test indicated that the sergeant was driving under the influence of alcohol. The sergeant received a suspended reduction to the grade of senior airman, a forfeiture of $1,067 pay per-month for two months, 45 days extra-duty and a reprimand. The mission comes first A staff sergeant failed to go to his appointed place of duty at the time prescribed and then lied about his whereabouts. The sergeant received a suspended reduction to the grade of senior airman and a forfeiture of $1,023 pay per-month for two months. Double trouble An airman first class entered the Tinker Truck Gate as Security Forces were conducting random vehicle inspections. He gave consent to search the vehicle. A field sobriety test revealed that the member was under the influence of alcohol and his military ID revealed he was under the age of 21. The airman first class received a reduction to the grade of airman. Special Courts-Martial An airman received a bad conduct discharge, confinement for four months, forfeiture of $898 pay per month for four months and a reduction to E-1 for one specification of wrongful use of marijuana on diverse occasions, one specification of wrongful use of ecstasy on diverse occasions and one specification of wrongful possession of marijuana. General Courts-Martial A first lieutenant received a reprimand, forfeiture of $2,500 pay per month for four months and confinement for four months for one specification of attempting to engage in an act of sodomy or sexual intercourse in exchange for refilling prescription medication, one specification of having a sexual relationship with a patient, one specification of having a sexual relationship in his workplace, one specification of committing an indecent act and three specifications of adultery.
