AtHoc coming to base computers Published Jan. 15, 2009 By 72nd Communication Squadron TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla., -- Air Force Materiel Command and Air Combat Command have purchased a desktop alerting system known as AtHoc. This system is already installed on ACC and AFMC client computers. What will AtHoc do? It could save lives. AtHoc will have the ability to activate the outdoor Installation Warning System, send targeted alerts to designated personnel based on a specific mission function (such as the search and recovery team), provide multiple recalls of Tinker response teams or all computers on the Tinker domain. It has 234 preloaded scenarios which can be tailored to meet Tinker's needs or the ability to create Tinker-specific alerts. The concept is very similar to the existing Tinker Management System in use today, but the results and capabilities between the two systems are years apart. The program will replace the existing TMS and provide greater flexibility to the wing commander. AtHoc will be used by certain functions to disseminate critical information directly to affected areas of Tinker AFB which will save time and potentially lives. Personnel can expect the same level of service for emergency notifications with the new AtHoc system. The program icon will be identified by a small purple globe at the bottom right hand corner of computer screens where notifications and messages will pop up.
