Tinker bowler inducted into Oklahoma City Hall of Fame Published Dec. 11, 2008 By John Banks Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla., -- A highlight on the Tinker sports scene took place recently when a base bowler was inducted into the Oklahoma City Bowling Hall of Fame. Rhonda F. Wright, logistics management specialist with the 848th Supply Chain Management Group, received the honor for her lifelong accomplishments within the bowling community in the Oklahoma City metro area. This award is giving to those bowling stars whose contributions greatly add to the growth and welfare of bowling within their community. "It is indeed an honor to be selected and inducted into the elite of bowling stars of Oklahoma City," said Wright. Wright started her bowling career in 1990; however, she did not take it seriously until 2000. "I wanted to be competitive against the guys I bowled with and against," she said. Her dedication and devotion to her craft was encompassed by reading books, watching videos and hours of practice on the lanes. "These books and videos helped me improve my bowling ability and increase my average," she said. Wright holds the distinction of bowling the highest series -- by a man or woman at the Tinker Bowling Center -- with a score of 823 for a three-game series. Wright has garnered numerous accolades, but she said the highlight would be four 300 games. Also, she was recognized by the Women's International Bowling Congress for high women's average, 217, in 2006. "The only regret of my bowling career was not having my mother see my induction into the Hall of Fame," she said.
