Two Tinker Airmen were shining stars at the recent 2008 U.S. Armed Forces Rugby Championships at Fort Benning, Ga.

Brice Collier, 550th Aircraft Sustainment Squadron, said he was selected as a result of being the team captain of the Air Force Academy rugby team last year. Jeremy Allen of the 513th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron also represented Tinker on the team.

"I knew I would have to play well and work hard to get a spot on this team's rotation," said Collier, who was a 2008 All-American selection and three time all-conference selection at the academy.

The Air Force squad dominated the championships. In four round-robin games, the Air Force out-scored their opponents 212-11.

In the first round, the Air Force throttled the Army 44-3. The second round match was more impressive with the Air Force scoring a 76-0 decisive win over the U.S. Marine Corps. In the Air Force's closest match of the tournament, they defeated the Navy 26-5 in the third round. The final round-robin match was a dominant 66-3 victory over the Coast Guard.

In the championship match, the Air Force defeated the Navy 37-8. Collier and Allen were two of the seven Air Force team members selected for the all-tournament team at the end of the event.

The duo will represent the U.S. Armed Forces in upcoming rugby tournaments throughout the year across the country.
