Tinker Fire and Emergency Services would like to remind everyone on the proper procedures for reporting a fire or emergency. Dialing 911 will provide dispatching services for fire and medical service emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

This system ensures a rapid response and, most importantly, saves lives. Any person discovering a fire, a potential fire, or an emergency situation must report it immediately to the Tinker fire department. This includes every fire, whether it has already been extinguished or not.

In case of fire, smell of smoke and/or an fire alarm activation remember this procedure, S-P-E-E-D:

S - Sound the alarm (This will alert the building occupants)
P - Phone 911 (Call 911 dispatchers with emergency details)
E - Evacuate the building
E - Extinguish the fire (If it can be done in a safe manor without injuring yourself)
D - Direct first arriving fire crew of where the fire or emergency is located

After following these steps, join your co-workers in your designated meeting areas so your supervisors can make sure everyone is accounted for.

How to report an emergency; give the following information:
Name
Location, address, and/or post location
Nature of emergency
Telephone number
Don't hang up until told to do so by the emergency dispatcher

Dialing 911 from a cell phone on base will connect to the nearest emergency dispatch call center, not the Tinker Fire Department. If reporting an emergency on base, tell them to connect you to Tinker 911. They will transfer you. Remain on the line even if there is a delay. Do not report a fire or medical emergency to a third party (supervisor/manager) until after 911 has been called.

Always dial 911 for:
Fires
Smell of smoke
Life threatening situations
Motor vehicle accidents or major traffic/street obstructions
Injuries or severe illness need immediate medical attention
Hazardous chemical spills
Fire, smoke detector, or carbon monoxide alarm activations
