"We are looking for a breakout game. I think we are well rested and this should be a good game to see where we are at," said Brad Poarch, goaltender for the Hawks. The Hawks scored early and often and they totally dominated their opponent in the first period. They scored a team-record five goals in a span of 12 minutes to take over the game. Center and team captain, Miguel Lopez, registered a natural hat trick by scoring three goals unassisted, while the other goals were scored by center Andy Spivey and defenseman Dave McClean. "This is awesome, sometimes when it gets going, everything goes in," said Spivey. "Let not get over confident, keep skating and playing offense and defense like we are suppose to," said Lopez. The scoring onslaught continued in period two as center Josh Riley scored two goals of his own. Spivey assisted on both of those scoring tallies. Before the horn sounded, the Hawks got two more goals by left winger Brett Bilbe and defenseman Luke Westerman. This made the score 9-0 after two periods of play. The third period saw the Hawks continue their dominant performance as Riley completed his hat trick, while center Jon Jansenvangalen and defenseman Brian Lomanaco tallied goals to contribute to the team's record-breaking night. "We all put it together tonight. I hope we can do it this way again in our next game," said Lopez. The three stars of the game were Riley who had three goals and two assists; Lopez who had three goals and an assist, and Poarch who stopped all 21 shots he faced registering his first shutout of the season. The win improved the Hawks record to 3-5; while the loss dropped the Storm to 2-6 on the season. The Hawks return to the ice versus the Flames Storm at the Blazers Ice Centre at 6 p.m.
