"Is the line ready... line's ready... fire." Those are the words approximately 150 Oklahoma area law enforcements agents heard last Friday during the 11th Annual Air Force Office of Special Investigations Federal Law Enforcement Agency Pistol Competition at Tinker.

"This is the largest liaison event in Oklahoma where all of our area federal law enforcement agents get together for competition and camaraderie. It is a day to foster working relationships that aid in daily operations, intelligence sharing and liaison much needed in today's intelligence community which directly contributes to the overall safety of our community," said Jacob Boisselle, OSI Special Agent.

The planning for this event starts at the beginning of the year. At that time invitations are distributed and donations for door prizes and awards are arranged and the competition course-of-fire plans are built.

"The 72nd SFS CATM personnel are largely involved in preparing for this event through the use of their range and firing expertise. With Tinker's community support, this event is built into a memorable time for everyone involved," said Eric Wilkins, OSI Special Agent.

All Oklahoma area Federal Law Enforcement Agencies are invited. Agencies that participated were: Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigations Division, US Marshals, National Park Service, Defense Criminal Investigative Service, Transportation Security Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs Police, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, Federal Aviation Administration, US Postal Inspection Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, US Secret Service, Federal Correctional Institute, Veteran's Hospital Police and Federal Transfer Center. Tinker's own 72nd SFS and OSI also competed in the mix.

To participate in the annual event shooters must be employed full-time by their respective federal law enforcement agency.

"This is a lot of fun and we had a great time," said Tony Orefice, FBI Special Agent, Oklahoma office. The 11th annual competition was Mr. Orefice's first to attend.

During the competition, teams consisted of four shooters and one alternate. All five shooters participated and the top four scores were recorded. The agency's Special Agent in Charge or the agency's recognized representative competed as one of the five shooters and also competed in a separate contest for SAC's.

All of the teams were challenged with two different sets of targets and numerous distances. Each person ended the competition having fired 84 rounds.

"This is my 11th year of scoring the targets," said Joe Henderson, CATM instructor. "Each participant uses the weapon that they carry every day. The most common guns that is seen out here are the nine millimeter, 40 caliber and 45 caliber."

Awards for the top team and shooters were presented, the event finished with a raffle. All proceeds from the event are raised in honor to the Federal Law Enforcement community for their hard work and will be donated to the National Federal Law Enforcement Officer Memorial for fallen Federal Agents killed in the line of duty.

Colonel Allen Jamerson, 72nd ABW commander, addressed the agents before the start of the competition and thanked everyone for attending and for all of their support.

Tinker Air Force Base's Office of Special Investigations hosted the event that took place at the 72nd Security Forces Squadron Combat Arms Training and Maintenance Range.
