STINFO, what's that? Published Aug. 13, 2008 By Brandice Armstrong Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla., -- 'Information is not knowledge, until it is shared," according to the Scientific Technical Information, or STINFO, policy Web site. The STINFO program focuses on filing documents that aid scientists and engineers in research and everyday work. STINFOS may include blue prints, formulas, graphic displays and research summaries, and Air Force officials are promoting the proper storing and archiving of the documents. "It's an avenue that scientists and engineers have to look at as lessons learned," said Mark Reed, STINFO program promoter at the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center. "It's something that could save scientists and engineers time, and save the Air Force and taxpayers' money." By utilizing the STINFO program, scientists and engineers may eliminate extra work or conducting duplicate work. To properly store a STINFO document or for more information, OC-ALC scientists and engineers are encouraged to e-mail a STINFO officer at OCALC.STINFO@tinker.af.mil, or go to www.stinfo.org.
