Tinker Air Force Base announced it's quarterly Team Tinker Award winners during a ceremony at the Tinker Club Aug. 5. The winners are:


Airman of the Quarter
3rd Combat Communications Group
Senior Airman James White

Airman White installed voice systems for a Field Training Exercise where he executed five communication tasking orders with 80 network connections, besting the standard by four hours. He completed a nine-day Avaya course, CLEP exam, and earned six credits towards his Community College of the Air Force Degree. Finally, Airman White played a key role in assisting his unit booster club with a fundraiser which earmarked $7,000 for the squadron Heritage Hall and family events.

NCO of the Quarter
Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center
Staff Sgt. Robert Binard,

Sergeant Binard skillfully cared for patients in two real-world mass casualties in which his invasive actions saved eight lives. He volunteered as an instructor for the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Class where he broadened the knowledge of 30 supervisors. Finally, Sergeant Binard helped raise $6,300 in a week to repair a Honduran orphanage well, earning the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.

Senior NCO of the Quarter
552nd Air Control Wing
Master Sgt. William Newman

Sergeant Newman managed care for 170 Airmen within 20 Air Force specialty codes, and 80 million dollars worth of equipment. He enabled air control of over 10,000 sorties and 200 Troops in Contact. Sergeant Newman completed a Developmental Psychology class which earned him three credit hours towards his Bachelor's in Healthcare Administration. Additionally, as an off-duty teacher, he instructed two 15-hour crisis-management courses for 63 Army civilians and contractors.


CGO of the Quarter
Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center
Capt. Dorian Williams

Captain Williams acted as the Interim Flight Commander of the Air Force's largest Flight Medical Clinic where he ensured 312 Airmen returned to flight with a 100 percent access-standard. He completed a state approved certification and became a licensed professional Christian counselor. Finally, Captain Williams acted as a community stalwart by escorting a disheartened veteran to the commissary to pay for $200 worth of groceries.


Honor Guard CGO of the Quarter
707th Missile Sustainment Squadron
2nd Lt. Lisandra LaShomb,

Lieutenant LaShomb participated in three funerals and two color guard events accumulating 26.5 detail hours in one rotation. She completed six credit hours towards her Masters in Business Administration with a 3.8 Grade Point Average. Additionally, Lieutenant Lashomb is an active participant in the Airmen Against Drunk Drivers program. She drove 95 miles with five rescues and volunteered 200 hours on-call duty while mentoring 50 ROTC cadets.

Honor Guard NCO of the Quarter
552nd Air Control Networks Squadron
Staff Sgt. Michael Dessino

Sergeant Dessino participated in four funerals and five color guard events accumulating a total of 44.5 detail hours in one rotation. He served as temporary Noncommissioned Officer In-Charge of Honor Guard Alpha Flight, in which he ensured all details were staffed and executed perfectly. Finally, Sergeant Dessino volunteered three hours at the Feed the Children Organization. He assisted with providing 14,000 pounds of food to children in need.

Airman 1st Class Andrew McDaniel


Airman McDaniel participated in three funerals and three color guard events accumulating 29 detail hours. He is actively pursuing his Associate's Degree in Information Systems Management. He passed three College Level Examinations and is enrolled in another course which will earn him three credit hours upon completion. As Tinker's Airman Against Drunk Drivers Vice President, he is responsible for over one thousand saves base wide.

AFA Health and Wellness winner
From the 72nd Dental Squadron
Staff Sgt. April Draper

Sergeant Draper initiated and executed an intra-squadron competition using Cross-Fit exercises which she was lauded by the Dental Squadron Commander as a creative NCO. She took a one-hour nutritional education class in which she stringently logged her eating habits for three weeks and reduced her Body Mass Index by 1.4 points. Finally, she led weekly fitness sessions with nine members, three days per week, pushing them to a higher level of fitness success and commitment.
