Welcome Col. Allen Jamerson. Before approximately 500 guests, Colonel Jamerson succeeded Col. Mark Correll as 72nd Air Base Wing and Tinker installation commander. The change of command ceremony took place July 18 in the Tinker Club's west parking lot.

"The Jamersons join us with eagerness and readiness," said Maj. Gen. Loren Reno, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center commander and presiding officer at the ceremony. "It is a time of expectation for them, perhaps some anxiety, but certainly a willingness to lead and to serve. Colonel Jamerson's record is one of integrity, service and excellence."
Colonel Jamerson, a career security forces' member, came to Tinker from Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., where he served as the vice commander of the 42nd Air Base Wing. This is his first assignment at Tinker.

"General Reno, I am honored to lead a crucial part of your team and I pledge to you the air base wing will continue to provide vital services that enable your support of our warfighters," said Colonel Jamerson. "To the women and men of the 72nd ABW, I am extremely humbled and privileged to be your commander. Based on what I've seen in my short time here, I can say, you are the best the Air Force has to offer."

Colonel Correll left Tinker to become the next major command civil engineer for the Air Education and Training Command at Randolph AFB, Texas. He served as the 72nd ABW vice commander from July 2004 to July 2006. From July 2006 to July 2008, he served as the air base wing and installation commander.

"Colonel Correll has been a leader of integrity, courage and candor," General Reno said. "He's been a leader who cares for people. He's been a leader whose results may outlive his memory."

General Reno also reflected on Colonel Correll's awards and accomplishments including "Best Large Security Forces Unit in the Air Force" in 2005, and the Gen. Curtis LeMay award for "Best Services Organization" in 2006. The general presented Colonel Correll with the Legion of Merit award.

"Today we transition from one leader to another," said Colonel Correll. "But, as we do so, it is not the end of an era and the beginning of a new one, but rather, the continuation of a long and decorated history of success that is the 72nd Air Base Wing."
