32nd Combat Communications Squadron welcomes new leader Published July 22, 2008 By 2nd Lt. Alyssa Palmer 32nd Combat Communications Squadron TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla., -- Maj. Kenneth B. Bratland assumed command of the 32d Combat Communications Squadron from Lt. Col. James R. Hoskins on July 9. "It has been my life's greatest honor and privilege to command these outstanding men and women," Colonel Hoskins said. "It is very difficult to hand back that guidon when your unit is performing at its peak. The only thing that makes it easier is knowing Major Bratland will surely continue this tradition of excellence. I know you will make him proud as you dive into your field training exercise in the next couple of weeks. Show him what you can do. Teach him, train him, and embrace him as your new commander as you have embraced me." Colonel Hoskins will be continuing his Air Force career at the Pentagon. Major Bratland comes to Tinker from Air Force Personnel Center Headquarters at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, where he served as chief Communications Officer Force Development. As the new commander, Major Bratland will be responsible for a squadron that provides bare base communications capabilities worldwide and qualified personnel to support operational deployments. "Ever since my senior NCO mentors inspired me as a young officer to be a commander," said Major Bratland, "I have been anxiously awaiting this day. I am humbled and honored to take the lead of the 32nd Combat Communications Squadron. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to command."
