Maj. Jennifer Hlavaty is the 33rd Combat Communications Squadron's new commander. She succeeded Maj. Terrence Adams July 10 in a change-of-command ceremony outside the 3rd Combat Communications Group's Bldg. 1002.

Major Hlavaty comes to Tinker from the Pentagon, where she was the aide-de-camp to the commander of Air Force Special Operations Command.

"I want to pledge to you my sincere promise to give my best for the men, women and families of the 33rd Combat Communications Squadron and the 3rd Herd," said Major Hlavaty. "I am invigorated to serve you."

Major Adams, who led the squadron since June 2006, will work in the communications sector for the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon. At the ceremony, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal.

Major Adams said, his accomplishments are the Airmen's accomplishments and vice versa. Without the Airmen, he would not have been able to lead the squadron as effectively.

"I know the unit has done a great job, because I have interfaced with other folks around the base and they're always talking about the 33rd," Major Adams said. "That's a testimony to you on how you all lead. It's Airmen who are leading, not just the commander, and it's Airmen who are mentoring the commander. Most of the stuff I have learned, the ideas that came about, they came from the Airmen."
