Stacy Cameron assumed command of the 72nd Communications Squadron from Lt. Col. Kyna McCall on July 2.
"We've gathered here to bid farewell to our last military commander of the 72nd Comm. Squadron. Not only did Colonel McCall's team support Tinker members but she also fostered an atmosphere of positive community support by encouraging her squadron to pay it forward. " said Col. James Eilers, 72nd Mission Support Group commander.
"Despite the many challenges of decreasing man power, reduced funding and changes in mission requirements Kyna and her squadrons focus on customer service and team work never diminished. She simply implemented many initiatives that have had a lasting impact on our daily operations," Colonel Eilers said.
Ms. Cameron is a longtime Tinker employee who began her career at Tinker after graduation from the University of Central Oklahoma. She then started out as a software instructor for the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center.
"Ms. Stacy Cameron is no stranger to Tinker Air Force Base or the 72nd Communications Squadron. She has an impressive resume and the comm squadron is extremely fortunate to have her take the leadership reins," said Colonel Eilers. "Stacy has been Kyna's right hand lady for the past two years and there is no one better suited to assume the leadership role of this organization."
Ms. Cameron went through several layers of competition before being selected for the job. The civilian communications career field required anyone interested in becoming a future civilian leader of a squadron to submit a statement of intent. She was selected above many candidates as one out of ten people that the personnel center deemed qualified.
Ms. Cameron's new duties will include providing command, control, communications computers, information management, deploying personnel and equipments in support of global contingencies. She will be responsible for supporting 80,000 base personnel and will manage more than $200 million in "C4" systems and equipment with an annual budget of $10 million.
"It has been my privilege and honor to work alongside you throughout the years and I am so honored and excited at the opportunity to lead and continue to work with such an excellent team of professional people. I am proud to be a part of the 72nd Communications Squadron, 72nd Mission Support Group, 72nd Air Base Wing and Tinker Air Force Base. I can't think of a more professional and dedicated team to be associated with," said Ms. Cameron.
