Colonel Tynan recognized for CFC efforts Published June 19, 2008 By Brandice J. Armstrong Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE -- Col. Tracy Tynan made Tinker proud. As Tinker's Combined Federal Campaign coordinator, Colonel Tynan recently received national recognition for his endeavors to raise awareness and funds for the CFC campaign. Colonel Tynan received the 2007 CFC Hero Award May 30 at the White House's Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C. "As a cumulative result of your (Colonel Tynan's) endeavors, the participation rate increased to 34 percent, an impressive increase of 6 percent over the previous year," wrote Maj. Gen. Loren Reno, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center commander, in a congratulatory letter to Colonel Tynan. "I am grateful for what you have done. You are truly an 'unsung hero' making a difference in the lives of the community." The CFC is an annual, military-authorized solicited fundraising activity. It is open to military members and civilian personnel, plus military-affiliated organizations. Throughout the world, there are more than 275 programs that raise money for CFC and the donations help acclaimed military and state activities. In 2007, officials set a $1.65 million goal for the central Oklahoma military community. When the campaign closed, $1.83 million was raised. "[Colonel Tynan's] dedication as the coordinator of this major fundraiser ensured the goal of the Central Oklahoma CFC was not only met, but exceeded by 10 percent," General Reno wrote. CFC Hero Awards are traditionally presented to individuals who made a significant difference and demonstrated leadership qualities in their campaign, said officials from the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. At this year's CFC National Awards Ceremony, 11 individuals, including Colonel Tynan, were named CFC heroes. Forty-five nominations were submitted. "I am very proud to be a part of the Tinker community and this award is really about the efforts of all the federal employees," said Colonel Tynan. "It's an honor to serve as the representative for Tinker and we can all feel good about making our community a better place."
