The 76th Propulsion Maintenance Group lucked out. On May 28, the group welcomed its new and second-ever commander, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center familiar face, Col. Evan Miller.
Held at Bldg. 3001's center mezzanine near the Hollywood and Vine footpath intersection, the change of command ceremony attracted nearly 150 guests. Colonel Miller accepted command after it was relinquished by former 76th PMXG commander Col. Brian D. Tri.
"Evan was in very big demand and we had to fend off numerous bids from all kinds of other (major commands) who were seeking to place him in other very large maintenance groups," said Brig. Gen. Judith Fedder, 76th Maintenance Wing commander, and presiding officer at ceremony.
Prior to his post as 76th PMXG commander, Colonel Miller led the OC-ALC Plans and Programs Directorate, a position he's held since June 2007.
As propulsion maintenance group commander, Colonel Miller manages the Air Force's only organic depot-level maintenance facility that supports both Air Force and Navy engines.
Colonel Miller, who has completed several maintenance assignments, said he looks forward to overcoming challenges and strengthening the propulsion maintenance group's assets to better support the warfighter, be better stewards of resources and be more valuable team players.
"I see many challenges ahead: readiness, cost, new work, changing work and the opportunities provided by the Tinker Aerospace Complex," the colonel said. "Those challenges will make us stronger if we face them together, if we attack them systematically and we face every challenge as a unified team.
"If we execute our mission and help play our role, we can ensure the wing, the center and the Air Force are successful in their missions," Colonel Miller said.
Before Colonel Miller accepted the 76th PMXG leadership role, Colonel Tri led the group for three years.
"As the first commander of the 76th PMXG, Colonel Tri came into the position with a portfolio of experience that guaranteed the success that we see today," said General Fedder. "Brian, you have done an incredible job in a very challenging group command.
"You've created a highly cohesive team that's stretching to achieve the highest possible levels of performance and one that you've encouraged and motivated to be innovative about the (quality of) work we do here at ALC in support of the warfighter," General Fedder said.
