Academy 'super' to headline June 19 Dining Out Published June 6, 2008 By Darren D. Heusel Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE -- Lt. Gen. John F. Regni, superintendent for the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, will be the featured speaker at this year's Tinker Community Dining Out. The event will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 19 at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. The theme for this year's Dining Out is, "Tinker and Oklahoma Leading the Way." As superintendent for the Academy, General Regni provides a highly structured four-year regimen of military training, academics, athletic and character development programs leading to a Bachelor of Science degree and a commission as a second lieutenant. A 1973 graduate of the Academy, General Regni's career has encompassed a wide range of personnel, training and command assignments including base commander and 8th Combat Support Group commander, Kunsan Air Base, South Korea; commander, Second Air Force; and commander, Air University. His staff assignments include director of Manpower, Personnel and Support, U.S. Pacific Command; director of Personnel at Air Mobility Command; and director of Military Personnel Policy, Headquarters U.S. Air Force. The general also served on the Reserve Forces Policy Board from 1996 to 1998. In addition to his bachelor's degree, he holds a Master of Science degree in systems management from St. Mary's University in San Antonio and is a graduate of the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala. General Regni's awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Medal with oak leaf cluster, Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit and Meritorious Service Medal with silver oak leaf cluster.
