Kennedy named first-ever Tinker Idol Published May 2, 2008 By Kimberly Woodruff Services Marketing TINKER AIR FORCE BASE -- The Tinker Idol sensation began in April and no one would have guessed it would turn out to be one of the most successful Services events. "tinker Idol exceeded our expectations," said Carlos Bassut, Business Operations Flight chief. The crowd was again standing room only at the Tinker Club Friday night. Ten finalists took the stage and it was evident they had been working very hard to get to that moment. In the end, three individuals walked away with cash and prizes totalling more than $4,500. The winner and Tinker Idol for 2008 is Staff Sgt. Ahmad Kennedy, 72nd Aerospace Medicine Squadron. His rendition of the Boyz to Men hit "Bended Knee: left the crowd wanting more and they got it with the last performance of the evening "You Remind Me" by Usher. In second place, Senior Airman Geoffrey Stirrup, 552nd Maintenance Squadron, who sang "Can You Stop the Rain" by Peabo Bryson and The Temptations' "Ain't Too Proud to Beg." Coming in third place was Cristela Carrizales-Grimes with her version of "Get Here" by Oleta Adams and "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor. Until next time, sing Tinker!
