GMH Military Housing is hosting a housing privatization lease signing event at the Tinker Club May 12 and 13. Participants can ask questions, sign their leases, and are invited to join the GMH staff for refreshments.
"The lease signing event will be conducted by neighborhood," said Cindy Murillo, GMH Community Manager. Ms. Murillo said GMH will have all necessary support personnel available from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
   Tinker Club Lease Signing Schedule:
    May 12
   Vandenberg Hills 8 a.m. - noon.
   Twining Fields 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.
    May 13
   McNarney Manor 8 a.m. - noon.
   Mitchell Heights 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.
Both the service member and his or her spouse are welcome to attend the event, said Ms. Murillo. If service members can't be present, the spouse or person acting on their behalf will need a special power of attorney to sign the lease on behalf of the service member.
The base legal office officials can assist in providing special powers of attorney. Those needing powers of attorneys should call 739-5811, for assistance.
Residents who are unable to attend the lease signing event for their neighborhood should contact GMH Military Housing at 610-3637 to receive information or schedule an appointment to sign their lease. A representative from GMH Military Housing will be available to provide the necessary paperwork to complete the lease signing process.
The new GMH housing office is set up for your convenience at 5358 Chidlaw, in the Vandenberg Hills housing area.
On July 1, the GMH community developer will assume the responsibilities of maintaining the operations of family housing said 72nd Civil Engineering Group Director Gene Gallogly. "It's time to make an important decision; continue to reside in on-base privatized housing or terminate your on-base residency and move to housing located off-base.
Mr. Gallogly said if members choose not to reside in on-base privatized housing they need to notify the Housing Management Office at 734-2821 no later than May 15 to schedule a date to terminate residency and work with the Transportation Management Office to move their household goods to their new residence.
Last February, lease signing was postponed to allow both GMH and the Air Force to refine the financial feasibility of the project as result of current real estate and financial market crisis. GMH and Air Force team have found solutions to secure the project, putting it back on-track.
