Family Advocacy offers classes

The Family Advocacy services listed below are available to anyone with access to Tinker AFB. These programs are held in the Family Advocacy office, Bldg 5801, unless otherwise noted. To enroll, or for more information, call 734-4390.
   Rhythm Babies, a joyful experience for parents and preschoolers, is set for May 8 and 22, and will meet the second and fourth Thursdays each month in Heritage Hall (building 5801.) This exciting new group brings parents and their children together to experience song, movement and fun. For more information, call 734-4390.
   Baby Business runs Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. from May 1 through 29. New and expectant parents can learn about: infant health care; post partum depression; baby-proofing your home; car seat safety, how your relationship changes after baby arrives, infant-child CPR and more!
   Parent Talk appointments are available on May 21 throughout the afternoon. Parents with children up to age 12, can meet for thirty minutes with a child psychologist, to discuss concerns about their child's behavior, family separations, reaction to a parent's deployment, sibling rivalry, toilet learning problems, etc. Parents should not bring children to this appointment.
   Dads: the Basics (in a Nutshell) is set for May 22 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. This one-session class is a condensed version of Dads; the Basics, but an expanded version of Dads 101, previously offered here. The class helps new and expectant fathers learn more about being a daddy and build up confidence. Topics include: pregnancy; coping with crying; bathing and holding your baby; ways to show you care; what to take to the hospital and much more.
   Playgroups meet on Fridays at the Youth Center. Toddler Time meets from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and is for parents with children up to their third birthday.
   Baby and Me meets from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and is for parents with children up to 12 months old. Join us for fun and make new friends. Playgroups will not meet on May 16 and 23.
   Family Advocacy is a member of the Tinker Care Network, a group whose mission is to integrate base helping agencies into one seamless team that provides the right help at the right time to active duty military, family members, DOD civilians and retirees.
