Tinker gained a new associate tenant April 2.
At a stand-up and re-designation ceremony, Scott Reynolds, director of the 448th Combat Sustainment Wing, relinquished command. Col. H. Brent Baker Sr., Air Force Global Logistics Support Center commander, re-designated him director of the AFGLSC's 448th Supply Chain Management Wing for Planning and Execution. The ceremony took place on the steps outside Bldg. 3001's main entrance before nearly 200 military and civilian personnel.
"You are a part of history today," said Colonel Baker. "The 448th Supply Chain Management Wing will play a significant role in helping the AFGLSC exceed in its three key pillars for success - trained support to the warfighter, continuous process improvements, and taking care of our outstanding people. We will live our motto, which simply states, 'Global Logistics, Warfighter Focus.'"
   Mr. Reynolds agreed.
"In the past, the supply chain that managed the material flow within our Air Force was dispersed among several (major commands) and numerous organizations," he said. "The question of who owned supply chain management was answered with, 'everyone' and 'no one.' The AFGLSC has changed the answer to this question by becoming 'the' supply chain manager for the Air Force, the single point of entry into the Air Force supply system."
The AFGLSC, an Air Force Materiel Command unit, serves as the Air Force's new supply chain manager and will perform day-to-day operations. It was brainstormed as part of the Air Force's Expeditionary Logistics for the 21st Century campaign, as an effort to make current processes more effective and efficient. The AFGLSC will employ about 4,500 personnel.
Organized into two wings and a group, the AFGLSC operates from six different locations.
The 448th SCMW for P&E has five groups and three of these groups - 948th SCM Material Support Group, 448th SCM Contracting Group and 848th SCM Planning and Execution Group - are at Tinker. Two additional groups reporting to the 448th SCM Wing are the 638th SCM Planning and Execution Group at Robins AFB, Ga., and the 748th SCM Planning and Execution Group at Hill AFB, Utah.
Overall, there are approximately 3,500 personnel assigned to the 448th SCM Planning and Execution Wing.
The AFGLSC is also responsible for the 635th SCM Wing for Operations at Scott AFB and the 591st SCM Group for Strategy and Integration at Wright-Patterson AFB.
The AFGLSC headquarters at Scott Air Force Base, Ill., officially stood up March 28.
Mr. Reynolds said the April 2 ceremony is the fourth time the 448th SCMW changed designations. Yet, regardless of previous names and missions, the focus is still the warfighter and its sustainment.
"...remember the warfighter is not interested in our process," Mr. Reynolds said. "They don't care how many times we have been redesignated or how we get our jobs done. They care about having the weapon systems they need to fight and win our nation's wars.
"Our focus will be to get the warfighter what they need, when they need it," Mr. Reynolds said. "We can't settle for anything else when we are talking about protecting the brave men and women around the world today defending our freedoms."
