Dale Rogers Training Center had the honor of hosting Major General Loren Reno, Commander of the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center at Tinker Air Force Base, and Robert Chamberlin, current President and CEO of NISH, at a recent visit to the Oklahoma City agency.
Maj. Gen. Reno and Mr. Chamberlin enjoyed touring the facility and interacting with students and staff.
DRTC is the oldest and the largest facility in Oklahoma training or employing close to 900 persons with disabilities. Approximately 300 of those persons are working at food services and custodial contracts at Tinker Air Force Base in addition to another 49 persons at Altus Air Force Base.
Both Maj. General Reno and Mr. Chamberlin are outstanding advocates for people with disabilities and each deserving of the acrylic gavels presented to them - the creations are by Prism Place, a trophy and awards division for people with disabilities located at Dale Rogers.
General Reno was thanked for his work and that of his chief of staff, Patty Ford, for their roles in allowing Metro lift bus lines on Tinker to make commuting easier for the folks who need specialized transportation to their workplaces.
Traveling all the way from Virginia, Mr. Chamberlin was happy to have the opportunity to visit with the General with whom he used to serve in the Air Force. Said Executive Director Connie Thrash .
McGoodwin M.Ed., "We are delighted to have the privilege to host General Reno and Mr. Chamberlin. They are true advocates for people with disabilities."
