The Tinker Hawks I seven-game win streak came to a halt on Feb 24, after a 5-1 loss to Team Chesapeake at the Blazers Ice Centre on Feb 24.
The Hawks started game on a blistering pace. They were able to get on the scoreboard first at the 6:22 mark of the first period. Forward James Behn skated into Chesapeake's zone and sent a pass to forward Andy Spivey who then deposited the puck into the net giving the Hawks a 1-0 lead.
"Guys, we are skating real well, however we need to play better positional hockey," said Guy Wisenbach, defensemen for the Hawks.
Team Chesapeake turned the tables on the Hawks by scoring five unanswered goals over the next two periods enroute to the victory.
"We were scrambling all over the place and not playing our brand of hockey," said Behn.
The Hawks were able to put some pressure on Chesapeake in the second and third periods, however they were blanked on the score sheet.
"We had a good game plan going in, but we just couldn't keep it going," said Behn.
The star of the game for the Hawks was Spivey. His lone goal and spirited play gave the Hawks uplift throughout the game.
"I love this game and always give my nest effort when I hit the ice," said Spivey.
The loss dropped the Hawks to second place in the season standing with an 11-2 record. The Hawks return to the ice at the Blazers Ice Center on March 2 versus the Ice Dogs at 7:15 p.m.
