The youth center's Before and After School Care is open 6 to 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 to 6 p.m. weekdays. In conjunction with the United States Air Force Academy, the ninth annual Air Force Services Teen Aviation Camp will be held at the USAFA in Colorado Springs, CO. The camp will be conducted May 31 through June 5 and is open to eligible high school students entering their sophomore or junior year in the fall of 2008. Teens eligible for application must be dependents of active duty military assigned to or living on an Air Force Base, retired Air Force military member, Air Force civilian employees or activated Air National Guard or Air Force Reserve. Youth who participated in the 2007 Teen Aviation Camp are not eligible to apply this year. Teens interested in aviation, leadership or the USAFA must complete the nomination form, Familiarization Exam, and submit the package to their base Youth Programs. Tinker's Teen Director Judy LeClaire will interview the applicants and provide a summary of the results along with the application package. Sign up deadline at the Youth Center is March 14. Airline or privately owned vehicle travel costs to Colorado Springs are the responsibility of the participant. Selected teen participants will arrive in Colorado Springs on May 31, and depart the morning of June 5. Participants will not travel with an adult staff from their Youth Programs. Aviation Camp staff members will be at the Colorado Springs airport to meet participants and provide transportation to the USAFA. All teens will then be introduced to the Air Force Academy through an extensive and active schedule. One Page at a Time reading program The Air Force Youth Programs is offering "One Page at a Time," an incentive to encourage children ages 5 to 13 years old to read books and earn rewards. Children can earn incentives such as pens, journals, backpacks and a lunchbox, all paid for by the Air Force. The Tinker Youth Center is sponsoring the program through May. Children must register at the Youth Center and read books from the book list at www.afyouthprograms.com. Log sheets will be tallied each month for submission to the Headquarters point of contact. Dance class sign-ups The youth center is holding registration for fall dance classes in tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop and ballet/tap.
