EQUIPMENT CHECKOUT

TINKER AIR FORCE BASE -- Equipment Checkout is open to all active duty, retired military and their dependents, reservists, Guardsmen and Department of Defense employees. The office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
   The office is located in the Services Mall, Bldg. 478, southeast of Burger King. They offer a variety of rental items and services that are available to all base ID card holders. Members of the Tinker Club receive a 10 percent discount on rentals by showing their current Members First Plus! card at the time payment is due.
   Because Equipment Checkout is closed on weekends and holidays, they run a weekend special on most items. In February, rent a lawn vacuum for $18 when returning it the same day, $36 for overnight or $72 for the weekend. This item must be transported in an upright position.. Members First Plus! customers receive an additional 10 percent off the monthly special.
   Do you still need to trim trees, clean your property or cut firewood and split logs for a fireplace? If so Equipment Checkout has the items you need. They rent 14- and 16-inch gas powered chainsaws, chipper/shredders that handle materials 4- and 6-inches in diameter, 11-horsepower brush cutters that will take care of brush up to 1.5-inches in diameter with ease. A 32-ton log splitters will split logs 24-inches long and up to 24-inches in diameter. Eight, 16- and 18-foot utility trailers are also available. A small deposit in the form of a check, money order, MasterCard or Visa is required on the five items listed above.
   Other items offered to help with lawn and garden projects include self propelled lawn mowers to rototillers.
   Equipment Checkout also has tools to help with home improvements, moving or home repair. These items include generators, sanders and cement mixers. For those who enjoy outdoor play, Equipment Checkout has sports items such as softball equipment and volleyball sets, plus picnic and party items like moonwalks and dunk tanks.
Items can be rented anytime Friday and must be returned no later than 11:30 a.m. the following Monday for only one a half day rental fee. All other rentals must be returned no later than 4:30 p.m. on the return due date.
   Payments for rentals are done at the time they are picked up. Cash, check, money-order, MasterCard or Visa are accepted for payment. Equipment Checkout does not accept Discover or American Express.
