Crime doesn't pay: Could this happen to you? It happened here at Tinker Published Feb. 21, 2008 Office of the Staff Judge Advocate TINKER AIR FORCE BASE -- The following are actual accounts of crimes recently committed by members of Team Tinker. The Tinker Take Off will regularly publish "Crime Doesn't Pay" to inform readers of criminal acts to be alert for and to deter and prevent further criminal behavior from taking place on base. Follow the rules! An A1C was asked by his supervisor about the status of his suspended state driver's license and the A1C stated his scheduled court date had been moved to a later date. The supervisor called the court clerk to confirm the change and discovered that the date had not been changed. The supervisor asked the A1C how he arrived at work that day and the A1C stated he had caught a ride with a friend. The A1C later admitted he had driven to work with a suspended state driver's license. He received a reduction to Airman for operating his motor vehicle on base with a suspended state driver's license and lying about it to a senior noncommissioned officer on two separate occasions. Clean your room! A supervisor was informed that his troop's dormitory room was in complete disarray. The First Sergeant and supervisor performed a safety inspection of the SrA's room and it was immediately apparent that he was not maintaining his room as it was his duty to do. The SrA received a suspended reduction to Airman First Class, suspended forfeiture of $815 pay and a reprimand for failing to maintain his dormitory room in a clean and orderly manner. Huffing is a crime. A SrA was sent home early from his deployment in the AOR to face nonjudicial punishment for huffing. The huffing incident occurred in a dorm room in the AOR. An Airman heard choking and gagging sounds as he was passing the SrA's room and become worried when the SrA did not respond to his calls. After numerous attempts to get the SrA to open his door, the SrA finally emerged in a confused state. The SrA received a reduction to Airman Basic and suspended forfeiture of $670 pay per month for two months for wrongfully inhaling Dust Off spray with the intent to become intoxicated, which conduct was to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces. The AB is now being processed for administrative discharge.
