Banks Tinker Public Affairs TINKER AIR FORCE BASE -- The Tinker Hawks I ice hockey team continued its winning ways with a 4-1 victory over The Storm Jan. 27 at the Arctic Edge Ice Arena in Edmond. "This team played us real hard last time out and we hope to keep our intensity up to get the win," said Hawks goaltender Brad Poarch. The early stages of the first period were tight for both teams. The Hawks had the advantage and kept The Storm at bay while peppering the opposing goalie with 10 shots in the first seven minutes of play. The lone scoring play in the first period happened when Hawks forward Brett Bilbe sent a cross-ice pass to defenseman Sam Lomanaco who fired a slap shot into the right corner of the net to give the Hawks the early lead. In a fast-paced second period, the Hawks took a two-goal lead when forward James Behn intercepted a pass in his own end, skated the length the ice and fired a rocket into the right corner of the net. The next tally for the Hawks came at the 16:51 mark of the second period. Forward Nick Russo rifled a wrist shot to the low left side of the net, giving the Hawks a sizeable 3-0 lead. On the final Hawks goal, forward Nic Kuc sent a pass from behind the net to Todd Bayles who directed hit the back of the net for the 4-1 lead. The Hawks are still in second place of the Oklahoma City Adult Hockey League Division II with a 9-1 record. Their next game will be against the Screaming Pylons Feb. 10 at Arctic Edge.
