The Tinker Rangers, a baseball team composed of active duty, reservists, and Department of Defense civilian personnel, is preparing to make a title run in the National Adult Baseball Association in 2008.
"We want to get the word out and utilize the experience we gained last year and make major improvements this year," Stephen Escalante, advisor for the Rangers.
This year's team will be coached by catcher Harley Shannon and second baseman Drew Thompson. Both players bring a wealth of baseball knowledge.
"These guys will take the reigns, and I honestly believe this team will be successful in 2008," said Escalante.
The Rangers will hold an informational meeting and an initial practice at 5 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Tinker Sports Complex Championship Field.
Team officials said the team will concentrate on fundamentals in the preseason to prepare for the long haul. They will play in the NABA National Division, as well as participate in the 2008 U.S. Air Force Championship and 2008 NABA World Championship.
