TINKER AIR FORCE BASE -- Equipment Checkout is open to all active duty, retired military and their dependents, reservists, Guardsmen and Department of Defense employees. The office is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.
   The office is located in the Services Mall, Bldg. 478, southeast of Burger King. They offer a variety of rental items and services that are available to all base ID card holders. Members of the Tinker Club receive a 10 percent discount on rentals by showing their current Members First Plus! card at the time payment is due.
   Because Equipment Checkout is closed on weekends and holidays, they run a weekend special on most items. In January, rent a lawn vacuum for $18 when returning it the same day, $36 for overnight or $72 for the weekend. Members First Plus! customers receive an additional 10 percent off the monthly special.
   Equipment Checkout has top of the line camping gear for rent. Rent a Coleman or Century propane camp stove, Thermo-A-Rest self-inflating pneumatic insulated sleeping mattress or a two-, four- or six-man Eureka tent. Those who don't like sleeping outside can rent one of the Casita or A-Liner camping trailers equipped with a propane cooking stove, heat and air, two burner cooking stove, sink and refrigerator. Camping chairs, travel cots, propane lanterns, ice chests, water coolers and thermos jugs are also available. Camping trailers can be reserved, but customers must come in to choose the type of trailer they like and fill out the necessary paper work. Customers must also leave a deposit in the form of a check, money order, MasterCard or Visa. No cash will be accepted.
   Those who need equipment for cleaning up will find gas and electric chain saws, detachers (power rake), lawn vacuums, chipper shredders for small twigs and limbs, gas and electric blow vacuums available for rent at Equipment Checkout. Items such as bow saws, limb pruners, wheelbarrows and various sizes of utility trailers are also available.
   Items can be rented anytime Friday and must be returned no later than 11:30 a.m. the following Monday for only one a half day rental fee. All other rentals must be returned no later than 4:30 p.m. on the return due date.
   Payment for rentals are done at the time they are picked up. Cash, check, money-order, MasterCard or Visa are accepted for payment. Equipment Checkout does not accept Discover or American Express.
